Wednesday, February 10, 2021 Did you miss the SpringFest club fair? Here are the 140 groups that participated.
In the twilight hours one evening last week, about 200 Huskers powered up their Zoom personas one more time before calling it a day - yet it wasn't for another class lecture or remote concert. For a couple hours, the students casually scrolled and virtually strolled the annual SpringFest Club Fair, hosted by Student Involvement.
Organized at the start of each semester, Club Fair is a chance for Huskers to meet and mingle with many recognized student organizations and clubs (RSOs) all at once. This spring's edition was facilitated virtually for nearly twenty-seven percent (140) of the university's 525 RSOs.
"In terms of the volume of clubs participating, it was the largest Club Fair on this campus in many, many years," says Melissa Griffith Phelps, assistant director for student organizations.
"It's a reassuring signal that Huskers are eager to be connected to social groups and professional orgnaizations, even though the COVID pandemic has disrupted life for so long and virtual meet-ups are the best safe option."
Students who missed all or part of the SpringFest Club Fair can still join RSOs, which is possible at any time throughout the year. Each group has an portal page from which Huskers can request to join the club or contact the group's members.
