Activists within the UNL and Lincoln communities come together to discuss racial justice -- what they’ve done, what they do, and how to move forward.

Bike Maintenance Clinic

March 23  |  5 to 6:30 p.m.  |  Outdoor Adventures Center

Part 1 of a two-night clinic (the 2nd half is March 30). Keep your ride in tip-top shape by learning the basics of DIY bicycle maintenance. Taught by Outdoor Adventures' own Bike Shop professionals and mechanics.

Athlete A: documentary

March 23  |  7 p.m.  |  Nebraska Union, Swanson Auditorium

Watch a screening of Athlete A, a documentary spotlighting the sex abuse of hundreds of young athletes involved with USA gymnastics. Hear the story of Maggie Nichols who spoke up about the abuse she endured and the impact that had on her Olympic dreams. This documentary will detail the more than 500 athletes who would eventually come forward to share their stories of systematic abuse and institutionalized corruption within the world of gymnastics.

After the screening there will be a chance to discuss and debrief the film with CARE Advocates.

This event is in advance Maggie Nichols' visit and presentation to campus on March 25.

Women’s History Month Celebration

An afternoon award ceremony to announce the the 2022 recipients of the Chancellor’s Outstanding Contributions to the Status of Women Award, as well as the Women of Courage, Character, and Commitment Awards. RSVP to attend.

The National Residence Hall Honorary will partner with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise funds during their annual on-campus "Shave for the Brave." Sign up now as a team, individual, or volunteer - you can be a hero for a child.

Maggie Nichols

Speaker Maggie Nichols is a former collegiate and US National Olympic gymnast. Known not only for her extraordinary skill as an athlete, she is also recognized for her testimony against Larry Nassar’s abuse and inappropriate actions while serving as the US National Gymnastic team’s physician.

Free for UNL students with Event Pass.
