There's a good chance you never go anywhere without your smartphone and that you use apps for everything from managing your money to listening to music and ordering meals. Here's a list of the apps every Husker needs right now to navigate campus life and have a successful start to the semester.

Download all these apps (except Event Pass) from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Big Red Welcome: Under the “More” tab, explore the entire list of more than 85 Big Red Welcome events to connect with fellow Huskers.
  • Notifications & Alerts: Receive weather-related notifications and general campus announcements.
  • More: Easily access Canvas, MyRed, and the campus directory.

  • Goosechase

Huskers can enter to win great prizes by participating in two games through the GooseChase app.

Download the app, create your account, and join each contest with a specific game code .

The first contest commences on August 16.

  • DUO Mobile

UNL provides this two-factor authentication(2FA) technology as an added extra layer of protection for University of Nebraska online systems. You'll need this app to verify your identity when accessing Canvas and other university-related systems.

  • Canvas

This is the cloud-based learning management system (LMS) used at the University of Nebraska. In Canvas you'll manage assignments and digital coursework, view class syllabi and connect with instructors. You also can access your Canvas portal online.

  • Transact Mobile Dining

Enjoy the convenience of food and meals on the go. Use this app for the easiest way to order, pay for, and pick up your favorite meals and drinks from campus Dining Centers as well as the food court vendors in the Nebraska Union and Nebraska East Union (including Starbucks). Dining Dollars and credit cards can be used as payment.

  • Handshake

Find and apply for campus jobs at your fingertips. Engage with employers and explore internships, co-ops, part & full-time jobs, and work-study programs – all through the Handshake app.

No app? Receive the exact same benefits through the desktop portal.

  • Nebraska Medicine

Manage your health care needs on the go and get access to telehealth visits through the Nebraska Medicine mobile app.

If you prefer to use a computer, you can access these services using the One Chart | Patient portal instead.

  • ActiveHusker

The mobile app is the most convenient way to register for group classes, programs, and events at UNL's Campus Recreation. Through the app, you will have your access card and will receive notifications about facility updates, features, and other announcements.

August 21-27, 2023 is the annual Fall Free Fitness Week for every Husker student to try out the many classes and formats. Each class has limited space available, so use the app to secure your place.

  • Event Pass

Technically not an app, it’s a unique QR code that allows Huskers to quickly check in at on-campus events, especially those hosted by Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement and UPC Nebraska.

Use your Canvas credentials to sign in to NvolveU for access to your Event Pass. Then, simply add it to your Apple Wallet, Google Pay, or your photo library for use when you attend campus events. You should be prepared to show your Event Pass at Big Red Welcome events.
