Pat Tetreault, director of the LGBTQA+ Resource Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, received the 2018 Research Recognition Award from the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) Coalition for Sexual and Gender Identities.

The award recognizes the completed or ongoing research on gender and sexuality in higher education. Since 2007, Tetreault has conducted research to advance the LGBTQA+ community.

“I am grateful to learn from and connect with others while doing this work,” said Tetreault. “It enriches my life and my ability to help create positive change.”

During the fall semester, the University Health Center had impressive success in its educational and promotional outreach with an estimated 20,463 student interactions. This number was calculated through the use of HuskerScan at most peer educator events and estimated headcounts at presentations and other events.

The Health Center largely attributes this achievement to a restructured peer educator program, a streamlined presentation request process and active participation in welcome-back events.

Staff at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln can learn fundamental assessment practices, review policies with campus collaborators and hear examples of the impact and change inspired by data collection at the Assessment & Impact Summit on May 9, 2018. The Summit seeks to build staff members' skills in assessment to increase data and analytical competencies to improve the student experience.

New this year, faculty and staff can sign up to receive discounted meal pricing at most dining centers and Grab-N-Go locations across campus. More than 170 employees have already signed up to participate.

Through the program University Housing and Dining Services hope to increase opportunities for students to engage with faculty and staff. The anticipated revenue will help provide lower-cost meal plan options for students.

Fraternity and sorority presidents at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln kicked off the semester’s ‘Friday Afternoon Collaborations’ program by meeting with Assistant Chief of Police Hassan Ramzah and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jake Johnson on January 26.

A result of the Greek Vitality movement, the session was an opportunity to increase communication and strengthen the relationship between the Greek organizations and the university.

The staff at the University Health Center grew last semester with the hiring of four new providers.

“We are excited to hire these exceptional new staff members so that the Health Center can continue to meet the needs of our students,” said Jeanine Soneson, student health operations manager.

In an effort to continually enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of its services, the University Health Center (UHC) as expanded its alcohol and other drug programs by adding the Alcohol Psychoeducation Workshop.

Associate Director for Campus Recreation Programming Vicki Highstreet has been selected as the 2018 NIRSA Honor Award recipient. The honor recognized her exemplary services to the Association and her impressive achievements in the field of collegiate recreation. Read more about this honor

One year ago the Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+ at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln opened on the third floor of the Nebraska Union. In its first year, the pantry has served 311 students with a total of 1,470 visits.
