Nearly 8,000 free face masks still available to Huskers

Tuesday, February 2, 2021 Nearly 8,000 free face masks still available to Huskers

UNL students who are spending any time on campus during the spring semester - whether living full-time or only coming for a single class - can pick up a pair of free face masks at the information desks inside the Nebraska Union and Nebraska East Union.

Two masks (one of each color) are available for students only with their NCard, while supplies last. Huskers are highly-encouraged to pick up the free masks as the university's facial covering policy requires they be worn at all times when indoors on the UNL campus (with very few exceptions). As they are needed often, it's recommended that students keep an extra face covering in their backpack or a vehicle for emergency use.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has acknowledged that use of facial coverings can help to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. A facial covering can reduce the trajectory of expelled respiratory droplets, which pose risk to those around you. They also shield you from droplets/particles expelled by others. When you wear a face covering, you demonstrate care about the health and safety of those in our campus community.

Additionally, the CDC recommends wearing a face covering outdoors when it's not possible to maintain a 6-feet distance from others or when encountering individuals who do not live with you.
