If you're staying close to campus over the break, there are plenty of events and activities to build your own unique staycation right here in Lincoln.
Husker Baseball | March 8-10, 15-17
Catch a ball game at Haymarket Park as the Huskers play two different opponents during the break. Claim your free student ticket the Monday before the game through your student ticket account. Grab a team poster at the South Alabama games March 8-10 or try your luck March 17 for the St. Patrick's Day t-shirt giveaway.
Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed | March 8-9, 11, 15-16
Known as the #1 attraction for car lovers, the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed displays over 600 historically significant engines and over 150 vehicle displays throughout the museum. Some featured galleries inside include the ‘Indy Room,’ ‘Open Wheel,’ and ‘Show Cars.’ College students can visit the museum for $10 with a student ID.
Lincoln Community Playhouse | March 8-10
The community theatre will put on its production of Cabaret, with three performances over the first weekend of spring break. Tickets are $15 for students. Purchase online or at the box office.
Husker Women’s Gymnastics | March 9
Wear your best retro gear to support the team as they compete against Lindenwood, Florida, and Eastern Michigan in the Ameritas Master's Classic at Devaney Center. Claim your free student ticket.
Husker Women’s Tennis | March 10 & 13
You have two chances to cheer on the team over the break, against Iowa March 10 and Baylor March 13 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. Claim your free student ticket.
Husker Men’s Gymnastics | March 10
Pack the Devaney Center to watch the team take on Illinois. Claim your free student ticket and arrive early for a chance to receive a t-shirt.
Sheldon Museum of Art | March 12-16
Get inspired with a tour of the current exhibitions on display at Sheldon Museum of Art. (In)credible: Exploring Trust and Misperceptions, Unprecedented: Art in Times of Crisis, and Sheldon in Focus: The New York School. Sheldon Museum of Art is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and admission is always free.
Husker Softball | March 14-17
Watch the Huskers compete against Northern Colorado, North Dakota, and Creighton in the Big Red Spring Classic at Bowlin Stadium March 14-17. The North Dakota game will feature Friday Bingo and Beat Creighton buttons will be given away at the game on March 16. Claim your free student ticket.
Lincoln Stars Hockey | March 15-16
Watch the Stars face off against the Chicago Steel at 7:05 p.m. March 15 and 6:05 p.m. March 16 at the Ice Box. Students can get tickets for $8.35 with a student ID.
Lied Center for Performing Arts | March 16
Enjoy 'The Magic of Rob Lake' at 7:30 p.m. March 16. One of the world’s most celebrated illusionists, Rob Lake is internationally renowned for his mesmerizing and award-winning illusion spectacular and was named ‘World’s Greatest Illusionist’ by NBC and the ‘top illusionist in the world’ by Caesars Entertainment. UNL students can purchase tickets for half price.
Ross Media Arts Center | Ongoing
Catch a documentary or independent film at the two-screen theater on campus. Perfect Days, The Zone of Interest, La Forza del Destino (The Met: Live in HD), and a Native American Film Series will be playing during spring break. Purchase tickets online.
Nebraska State Capitol | Ongoing
Take a free guided tour of the state capitol building, offered at various times each day, or walk the perimeter sidewalks and use the self-guided exterior tour.
Pioneers Park & Nature Center | Ongoing
Explore acres of tallgrass prairie, woodlands, wetlands, an environmental education center and wildlife sanctuary at Pioneers Park. Eight miles of hiking trails wind through various habitats and take visitors past non-releasable raptor exhibits and a small herd of bison.
Robber’s Cave | Ongoing
Robber’s Cave is Lincoln’s oldest tourist destination and the city’s one-and-only underground attraction. Regular admission is $19.99 and tours must be booked in advance by calling or texting 402-975-0598.
Escape Lincoln | Ongoing
Test your puzzle-solving skills and get a group together to try out one of five different escape rooms. The cost is $25/person for a 60-minute experience. Book a room.
Craft Axe Throwing | Ongoing
Try your hand at axe throwing, a game that anyone can play - no experience required. Score points by throwing axes at a giant dartboard-like target. The closer you get to the bullseye, the more points earned. Reserve a lane for $25/person for an hour of axe throwing.
Wax Buffalo - Make Your Own Candle | Ongoing
