There's a good chance you never go anywhere without your smartphone and that you use apps for everything from managing your money to listening to music and ordering meals. Here's a list of the apps every Husker needs right now to navigate campus life and have a successful start to the semester.
Download all these apps (except Event Pass) from the App Store or Google Play.
Within this UNL-specific app, you have a lot of essential campus information at your fingertips.
- Maps: Search for buildings on campus and find walking directions; track campus buses and their estimated arrival times; search for parking and bike racks.
- Schedule: Log in with your UNL credentials to view your class schedule.
- Big Red Welcome: Under the “More” tab, explore the entire list of more than 85 Big Red Welcome events to connect with fellow Huskers.

Huskers can enter to win great prizes during Big Red Welcome by participating in four challenge contests through the GooseChase app. You’ll submit photos and check in via your location in the app.
Download the app, create your account, and join each contest with a specific game code .
The first contest commences on Aug. 14; the remaining games kick off Aug. 17, Aug. 21, and Aug. 28, 2022, respectively.
UNL provides this two-factor authentication(2FA) technology as an added extra layer of protection for University of Nebraska online systems. You'll need this app to verify your identity when accessing Canvas and other university-related systems.
This is the cloud-based learning management system (LMS) used at the University of Nebraska. In Canvas you'll manage assignments and digital coursework, view class syllabi and connect with instructors. You also can access your Canvas portal online.
Enjoy the convenience of food and meals on the go. Use this app for the easiest way to order, pay for, and pick up your favorite meals and drinks from campus Dining Centers as well as the food court vendors in the Nebraska Union and Nebraska East Union (including Starbucks). Dining Dollars and credit cards can be used as payment.
For Huskers living in campus residence halls, this is the app needed to stream 100 high-quality IPTV channels on your device. Select “University of Nebraska Lincoln” as the Institution and log in using your university credentials.
Find and apply for campus jobs at your fingertips and engage with employers and search/apply for internships, co-ops, part & full-time jobs, and work study programs – all through the Handshake app.
No app? Receive the exact same benefits through the desktop portal.
Find all the popular group fitness classes at both the Campus Rec Center and the Recreation & Wellness Center with this mobile app. View the numerous daily classes and then lock in your spot in a class – from anywhere.
August 22-28, 2022 is the annual Fall Free Fitness Week for every Husker student to try out the many classes and formats. Each class has limited space available, so use the app to secure your place. .
Technically not an app, it’s a unique QR code that allows Huskers to quickly check-in at on-campus events, especially those hosted by Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement and UPC Nebraska. After grabbing your personalized Event Pass code, add it to your Apple Wallet, Google Pay or your photo library for easy access when you attend events. You should be prepared to show your Event Pass at Big Red Welcome events.
