Homecoming is a long-standing tradition for students, parents and alumni to work together and celebrate their love and appreciation for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and show their Husker pride.

Homecoming Week is October 4-10, 2020 and is full of exciting events like student competitions and display contests; campus-wide blood drive; homecoming concert; parade; pep rally and jester competition; and the Cornstock Festival.

For Homecoming Royalty, a king and queen are selected from the student body. Any full-time student who has completed at least 75 hours by the end of spring semester and has a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply to be a candidate for Homecoming Royalty.  All applications are due online by 11:59 p.m. May 9, 2020. Applications only will determine which candidates move to the interview phase.

Student are required to choose one of three tracks for their Homecoming Royalty submission:

  • Academic track: for students who have made an impact through academics, such as teaching assistants; research assistants; and tutors. This track is not solely for students with high GPAs or in the honors program. 
  • Athletics track: for students who have made an impact in any type of sport, including intramural sports, equestrian, rodeo, sport clubs, and varsity athletics.
  • Involvement track: for students who have made an impact through any university club or organizations club (with the exception of athletics) and/or volunteer organizations beyond the scope of UNL (e.g. volunteering at a hospital).

Important Dates

May 9, 2020Applications are due online by 11:59 p.m. (including references)

May 22, 2020  |  Interview sign-up. Interviews are conducted via Zoom.

June 2020  |  Finalists announced.

Finalists are required to participate in many event festivities during Homecoming Week; the king and queen are announced at the end of the week.
