New Meeting Room in the Nebraska Union Honors Big Ten

Since the 1970s, the room in the southeast corner of the Nebraska Union housed a bank. However, when Wells Fargo left in February 2015, plans to repurpose the space began—and the end result will be the new Big Ten meeting room.

The new Big Ten meeting room now is available for room reservations.

An important part of the planning process involved selection of a name for the new meeting space.

“The name Big Ten was selected [by the Nebraska Union Advisory Board] to recognize and celebrate Nebraska’s membership in the Big Ten Conference,” said Senior Associate Director of Nebraska Unions Ryan Lahne.

At a capacity of 14, the Big Ten Room is a small, boardroom-style meeting room that is a perfect location for more intimate events. A decorative ceiling border pays tribute to our peer institutions in the Big Ten. The overall design is consistent with the recently renovated Colonial Room and the in-progress remodel of the Georgian Suite. Technologically, the room features two LCD screens with Apple TV or HDMI capabilities.

The Big Ten Room opens for reservations on November 1.
