UNL's Campus Recreation department is offering an in-person 10-week Athletic Training Basics course during the spring 2021 semester.

This non-credit course is for students who are pursuing a career within a coaching or medical field (AT,PT,PA,MD, dieticians, etc.) or any person interested in learning about basic athletic care.

Led by certified athletic trainers Daniel Thyren and Sydney Wilson, the course will cover various health topics, hands-on learning and skills assessments, including:

  • legal issues
  • basic evaluations of the head, shoulder, knee and ankle
  • wound care
  • stretching

The course fee is $50 per person. Two separate sections of the course are being offered, starting on February 2 and 3, 2021. Both sections meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Room 230C inside the Campus Rec Center.

To register for the course, students should visit the Member Services Desk at the Campus Rec Center (city) or the Rec and Wellness Center (east).

Students who successfully complete all requirements for the course will be eligible to interview for an on-campus student job with Campus Recreation's Injury Prevention & Care (IPC) staff.
