Campus, community resources promote a safer university experience
Across campus and the Lincoln community, students, faculty and staff at Nebraska have access to a variety of resources to stay safe and supported in their day-to-day lives.
Click through the list below to see what organizations are available to help, from Counseling and Psychological Services to the LGBTQA+ Resource and Women’s Centers on the third floor of the Nebraska Union.
Center for Advocacy, Response and Education
The Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, formerly known as Victim Advocacy, provides confidential support for students, faculty and staff who have experienced sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking, harassment and other crimes.
During a CARE visit, a trained advocate can help members of the campus community process a situation, plan for safety, access temporary housing on campus, navigate reporting options and receive academic modifications. Advocates can also accompany students, faculty or staff to interviews and appointments if needed.

Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance
The university’s Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, also known as the Title IX office, investigates cases of sexual misconduct against students, faculty and staff on campus. The office serves as a neutral party in the investigative process.
To report an incident to the Title IX office, call 402-472-3417.
University Police Department
Nebraska’s University Police Department is located at 17th and R Streets. To report a crime or contact an officer, students, faculty and staff can:

The station is available for help 24 hours a day.
Counseling and Psychological Services
At Counseling and Psychological Services, students can speak with a licensed mental health professional about feelings of anxiety, stress, depression, alcohol and drug concerns, relationship difficulties and more. All counseling sessions are completely covered by student fees.
While most appointments need to be scheduled in advance, students can also make 30-minute, same-day crisis appointments in cases of emergency.
Big Red Resilience and Well-being
Big Red Resilience and Well-being was founded in fall 2018 and consists of 32 trained undergraduate, graduate and professional student volunteers, known as peer coaches, that educate fellow Huskers on how to utilize campus resources and ultimately have a happier and healthier university experience.
The organization is located in room 127 of the University Health Center and is free for students.
LGBTQA+ Resource Center and Women’s Center
The LGBTQA+ Resource and Women’s Centers are located on the third floor of the Nebraska Union. Both organizations serve as safe support networks for students.
The two spaces have resource libraries, spaces for conversation and studying, and student-centered events throughout the year.
Anonymous Reporting
The university has an anonymous online reporting system, TIPS, for members of the campus community who want to elevate a concern but do not feel comfortable revealing their identity.
TIPS can be easily located in the footer of every University of Nebraska–Lincoln website.
Other community and national resources
Outside of the university, a variety of resources are available in the Lincoln community and nationally.
For off-campus incidents, students, faculty and staff can call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000.
Voices of Hope is a Lincoln-based organization that supports victims of sexual assault and relationship violence. Friendship Home, also located in Lincoln, provides shelter and advocates for victims of domestic violence and their children.
Several national hotlines are also available for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline can be reached at 800-799-7233, and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline can be reached at 800-656-4673.
