The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is welcoming some 5,500 student back to campus residence halls this fall. The annual move-in marks the first time many Huskers been back since the university transitioned to remote instruction due to COVID-19 in March. While some move-in traditions remain, the four-day event has been altered to increase public health safety.

Officials at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln expect about 5,500 students to move into UNL's 14 residence halls by Aug. 16. With about 4,000 of the new arrivals anticipated between Aug. 13 and Aug. 16, the university is instituting curbside move-in.

In spring 2019 - prior to enrolling at the university - she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that dramatically changed her life. In her own words, Kirsten shares details about her successful transition to living on-campus at UNL and finding community and connections to help her achieve.

The university is requiring that facial coverings be worn during the fall semester when indoors and when social distancing cannot be observed. Students and employees will each receive two masks each.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is preparing to deliver more than 60,000 cloth masks to its students, instructors, researchers and staff. Every member of the campus community will receive two cloth masks — one red, one black.

Thursday, April 23, 2020 UNL community comes together, donates 1,964 masks for staff and students

UNL sent a request for more than 1,000 masks for essential workers about two weeks ago. As of Tuesday night, about 1,964 masks had been donated for an identified 1,765 people, which includes individuals who work on campus and students remaining on campus.

Grace Ellis, a sophomore in secondary education from Waverly, Nebraska, stayed on campus to serve as a resident assistant and work as a desk assistant in University Suites.

When the University of Nebraska–Lincoln announced a transition to remote learning, Grace Ellis knew she could be of service as a resident assistant to students who needed to stay.

In a joint effort, University Operations and University Housing are preparing up to 45 rooms in Harper Hall to be available under a state government contract to provide self-quarantine space for first responders, health care workers and others.

Friday, April 17, 2020 Bikes to be held through fall

Given the unanticipated moves that took place due to COVID-19 this spring, more than 100 bicycle owners may have forgotten to retrieve their property from campus bike racks.

To help prevent theft and vandalism, University Housing and University Police will inventory and move bikes that have not been placed in “safe racks” by May 8. Bikes will be placed in a secure location and need be claimed prior to September 28, 2020.
