RSO Spotlight: UNL Model United Nations

Tuesday, May 26, 2020 RSO Spotlight: UNL Model United Nations

The UNL Model United Nations group is committed to keeping members socially aware as global citizens. Students in Model UN enjoy meeting people from all across the world and the chance to expand their global perspective, as well as gaining understanding of differing viewpoints. Three words to describe Model UN: Inclusive, Committed, and Inquisitive.

The team holds weekly Tuesday meetings, where members discuss speech & debate skills, writing techniques and current events. Current members stress the importance of being involved to enrich your self and continue growing. Finding your own passion will keep your mind sharp and allow you to learn outside the classroom and into the rest of your life.

Each fall semester the organization hosts PAN-Nebraska, a Nebraska-based Model UN Conference. In the spring, the group attends a weeklong conference in New York City. For this conference, members spend much time preparing papers and material for their assigned committees.

UNL Model United Nation is open to all students - not only Political Science or Global Studies majors. For example, an agriculture student could join and research the World Food Programme (WFP).

Connect with the group on Facebook and NvolveU.
