Thursday, March 5, 2020 Mid-renovation Open House for Nebraska East Union set for March 9
Explore the new Starbucks, the community lounge areas and private study rooms – plus the soon-to-be-finished Great Plains Room - during this special event.
The campus community is invited to visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for guided tours of the new spaces in the Nebraska East Union and to hear details about the future changes yet to come for the 1st and 3rd levels. The East Campus Dining Center, which opened in November, can be toured, too.
Attendees are encouraged to enter via the new south-side entrance, directly adjacent to Starbucks; attendees entering from the north should use the elevator to reach the 2nd level.
The 2nd level space has been completely transformed into a modern and open floorplan. The Starbucks location serves as a central anchor encircled by various lounge areas, large picture windows overlooking the campus, private study lounges, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace. A feature still under construction is an elevated outside patio, which is destined to be a popular gathering spot for students.
Originally opened in 1977, the Nebraska East Union embarked started this renovation and modernization in October 2018. Further phases of renovation will continue though Fall 2020.
