Canvas is one of the seven apps every Husker students needs on their smartphone for the Fall 2021 semester.

There's a good chance you never go anywhere without your smartphone and that you use apps for everything from managing your money to listening to music and ordering meals. Here's a list of the apps every Husker needs right now to navigate campus life and have a successful start to the semester.

Download all these apps (except Event Pass) from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Safer Community

This app supports the university community during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering the most convenient, secure and direct tool for managing your COVID-19 testing, test results and access to buildings. You'll be required to show this app for entry into dining centers; rec centers; academic buildings and events, including Big Red Welcome activities.

  • NEBRASKA app

Within this UNL-specific app, you have a lot of essential campus information at your fingertips.

    • Maps: Search for buildings on campus and find walking directions; track campus buses and their estimated arrival times; search for parking and bike racks.
    • Schedule: Log in with your UNL credentials to view your class schedule.
    • Big Red Welcome: Under the “More” tab, explore the entire list of more than 85 Big Red Welcome events to connect with fellow Huskers.
    • Notifications & Alerts: Receive weather-related notifications and general campus announcements.
    • More: Easily access Canvas, MyRed, the campus directory and the COVID-19 information.
  • DUO Mobile

UNL provides this two-factor authentication(2FA) technology as an added extra layer of protection for University of Nebraska online systems. You'll need this app to verify your identity when accessing Canvas and other university-related systems.

  • Canvas

This is the cloud-based learning management system (LMS) used at the University of Nebraska. In Canvas you'll manage assignments and digital coursework, view class syllabi and connect with instructors. You also can access your Canvas portal online.

  • UNL Dining Services app

Discover the daily menus at each of the five campus dining centers, as well as all locations of Husker Heroes and Herbie’s Market. Daily hours and future days’ menus are displayed too.

  • Transact Mobile Dining

Enjoy the convenience of food and meals on the go. Use this app for the easiest way to order, pay for, and pick up your favorite meals and drinks from campus Dining Centers as well as the food court vendors in the Nebraska Union and Nebraska East Union (including Starbucks). Dining Dollars and credit cards can be used as payment.

  • Event Pass

Technically not an app, it’s a unique QR code that allows Huskers to quickly check-in at on-campus events, especially those hosted by Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement and UPC Nebraska. After grabbing your personalized Event Pass code, add it to your Apple Wallet, Google Pay or your photo library for easy access when you attend events. You should be prepared to show your Event Pass at Big Red Welcome events.

Follow these instructions or view this video to successfully acquire the Event Pass.
