Urban Plunge is a first-year student service event from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2022. It will feature opportunities for 200 Huskers to help local nonprofits with yard work, serving meals to participants, sorting donations, and other opportunities.

Volunteers are asked to sign up in advance. On the day of the event, meet at the Nebraska Union's Broyhill Fountain at 8:45 a.m. to check in and meet other volunteers. Busses will transport all volunteers together, departing at 9 a.m. to the various service sites. Students will return to campus by 11:15 a.m.

Additionally, students can serve as site leaders for the volunteer projects. Sign for this leadership opportunity here.

Urban Plunge is part of Big Red Welcome. It supports and cultivates a spirit of engagement and service on campus and in the community. The experience provides first-year students with an opportunity to explore the potential ways they can use their skills to make a positive impact in our community.
